What is the Procedure Like?

The procedure for microchanneling is simple and takes about 30 minutes to complete, depending on the size of the area being treated. First, your esthetician will thoroughly clean the area to be treated. Then, a topical anesthetic may be applied to the area to help reduce any pain or discomfort you may feel.

When performed in the appropriate fashion, the microchanneling device uses a stamping motion to cause controlled microinjuries on the surface of skin.

How Many Treatments Will I Need?

You may need several treatments to achieve your desired results. For optimal results a series of 4-8 treatments can be expected; depending on desired outcomes. Conditions like acne scarring require more sessions. Each treatment is administered every 4 to 6 weeks. 

It is important to note that you will not see visible results immediately because collagen production is a natural process that takes time. It will take a few months to see the full results of microchanneling.

Is There Any Downtime Involved?

Since microchanneling is minimally invasive, the procedure does not require any downtime except caution when it comes to sunlight. Minimal downtime means that you don’t have to take time off to recover and you are free to return to your daily activities immediately after the procedure is completed.

Right after your procedure, your skin will be a little pink or red and you may experience mild swelling and 

tenderness. This is a natural response to the treatment and should not be a cause for alarm. These will go away on their own in about a day or two without any further complication. Again, it is important to remember you may experience a hypersensitivity to the sun post treatment and SPF 35 is recommended.
